Omar Mosque began in 1995 as a small prayer space in a rented storefront on Getty Avenue. Founded by a group of immigrant families seeking a place to worship and preserve their faith, our community started with just 20 dedicated members.
Through years of dedication and community support, we transformed from a modest space into the beautiful mosque that stands today, serving thousands of Muslims in the Paterson area.
Our current facility at 501 Getty Avenue was completed in 2008 after a community-led fundraising campaign. The mosque features:
Omar Mosque established in a small storefront with 20 founding families

Completed construction of the main mosque building
Expanded to include full-time Islamic school and community center
Launched online services and streaming during pandemic
